Our Story

Care that feels like family because it is.

Family-founded. Clinically driven. Compassionately focused.

Our Story. There's hope.

Who We Are

We are a woman-owned, and family-led outpatient mental health clinic, built on the belief that community makes people stronger.

While our leadership comes from family, our diverse and qualified team of male and female providers all share the same commitment to real, genuine connection. Our psychiatrists, therapists, and case managers all work together under one roof.

Here, you are never just a number. You are known by name, and cared for like family.

Our mission is to provide the best support we can for our community. We believe connection is one of the most powerful parts of healing - even when socializing feels hard, showing up for each other makes a real difference.

Through our adult and youth groups, we bring people together — on our outdoor basketball and tennis courts, in our vegetable garden, at our waterfront picnic area, and in our indoor game rooms.

We do this because we believe in the power of community, and that people are stronger when they feel unified. Knowing you do not have to manage it all alone allows you to acknowledge that you deserve a safe space — a place where you are heard, loved, and seen, and where you can always depend on us being there for you.

And it works! We have seen first hand the remarkable power of community on someone struggling with mental health. Reach out and let us know how we can best serve you!

Meet Our Founder

My name is Dr. Charito Quintero-Howard, and I am a child and adult psychiatrist and founder of Child and Adult Psychiatry.

My family and I come from the Philippines, and together we oversee management of our clinics. In the Philippines, we grow up with a principle: Malasakit - genuine compassion and care that goes beyond obligation. This value is upheld in our lives today and defines our team. We show up for people because we truly care.

We believe in a kind of care that's become rare in healthcare today — one built on dedication, loyalty, and going above and beyond for every patient. No matter what you're facing, we are committed to walking alongside you, because there's always hope.

Our Approach

Holistic Care

Each patient can have up to 3 providers dedicated to their care. We believe mental health is connected to every part of life — social, financial, physical, environmental, and mental — so our approach treats the whole person, not just a diagnosis.

Our case managers support the social, environmental, and financial parts of your life. Our therapists provide emotional and mental support. And our doctors address the biological, mental, and physical pieces of your care.

Together, our team can help you reach your goals and improve your quality of life!

Understanding Mental Health

What is mental health?

  • Mental health is our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It dictates how we think, feel, and act, enabling us to cope with life's stresses, realize our potential, work productively, and build meaningful relationships. It is a core component of overall health.

Factors that Shape Mental Health

  • Biological factors: Genetics, brain chemistry, and physical health.

  • Life experiences: Trauma, abuse, or prolonged exposure to stress.

  • Social and environmental factors: Financial instability, community safety, access to resources, and support systems.

mental illness vs. mental health

  • Mental health conditions (often called mental illnesses or disorders) are specific medical conditions that affect a person's mood, thinking, or behavior. They include disorders like major depression, anxiety disorders, and schizophrenia, etc.

  • Having good mental health doesn't mean the absence of these conditions, but rather having the tools, resilience, and support to manage them and navigate daily life.
