How does TMS work?
Depression can cause the areas of the brain responsible for mood regulation to be underactive. TMS uses magnetic pulses to stimulate and awaken these underactive areas of the brain—offering a safe, highly effective alternative treatment without the side effects of traditional oral anti-depressants.
Will TMS work?
Most patients experience significant reduction in symptoms or full remission after TMS.

What is a TMS Session like?
TMS therapy is performed in our Joppa Outpatient Clinic and does not require anesthesia or sedation. You’ll sit comfortably during the session while a device lightly touches the top of your head. The device sends magnetic pulses to targeted areas of your brain that are associated with mood regulation. The treatment is painless, and most patients describe it as feeling like a light tapping on the head. A typical session lasts about 10 to 30 minutes, and patients can return to normal activities immediately after.
